STUDENT COUNCIL ASST. SPONSOR

Reports to: Building Principal / Assistant Principal of Activities & Enrichment


ย 

Club-Specific Responsibilities

  • Recruit, organize and supervise student members of the Student Council Club

Program Management & Operations

  • Manage material logistics including budget, fundraising, publicity, and supplies.
  • Manage equipment, program needs, and set-up and breakdown for meetings and events.
  • Plan, advertise, and facilitate regular club meetings consistent with program needs and building schedules.
  • Maintain sufficient student participation to support the club's continued operation, as determined by building administration.
  • Submit activity participation reports as required by administration.
  • Collaborate with building staff for facility use, scheduling, and event promotion.

Student Engagement & Development

  • Foster academic achievement, positive citizenship, and school spirit among students.
  • Assist in engaging students in school-wide spirit and community events (e.g., Homecoming decorating, community activities).
  • Recruit and promote the activity at community recruitment events such as:
    • Activities Fair
    • Meet the Teacher Night
    • 8th Grade Open House
    • Other

Communication & Record Keeping

  • Maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Provide timely communication with students and parents regarding meetings, events, and expectations.
  • Aesthetically maintain club website with accurate and timely information.

Supervision & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all school, Board, and safety policies during practices, meetings, and events.
  • Supervise students at all club activities, maintaining appropriate discipline and safety.
  • Complete all required training and adhere to district chaperone and supervision guidelines.
  • Attend and oversee all club-related events, including after-school rehearsals and community performances.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Attend relevant faculty or activities meetings regarding club sponsorship.
  • Maintain availability during off-season periods when planning or program responsibilities require attention.

ย Community Involvement

  • Attend a minimum of one community event when requested (e.g., parades, fundraisers, community outreach).

Compensation and Benefits for External Applicants

Individuals hired from outside CHSD218 as seasonal coaches or activity sponsors receive only the contractual stipend for the assignment.ย  Board-provided employee benefits (including health, dental, life insurance, leave and participation in district retirement plans) are not available to external hires in these roles.ย  For benefit eligibility, an individual must be a contracted district employee.
