Wage Range: $12:50-13.00/hour

Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):ย 

To assist Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz chamber groups with rehearsal and concert logistics.

Duties and Responsibilities:ย 

  • Set chairs, stands, equipment, and instruments for weekly rehearsals for all jazz ensembles

  • Schedule and supervise student crews for on-campus dress rehearsals and performances for all jazz ensembles

  • Supervise student crews for off-campus dress rehearsals and performances

  • Manage communication with Music Organizations staff, Music Department staff, conductor, and ensemble members for all jazz ensembles.

  • Create packing list and arrange transportation of chairs, stands, equipment, and instruments between CHM and concert venue

  • Drive the college-owned truck for on-campus performances for all jazz ensemblesย 

Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)ย 

  • Knowledge of jazz band stage configurationsย 

  • Knowledge of jazz band equipment and instruments

  • Knowledge of scheduling practices for truck transfers, stage set-ups and tear-downs, rehearsals, and performances for all jazz ensembles

  • Knowledge of student crew organization

  • Active St. Olaf College-Approved Driver

Physical and Environmental Factors:

This position requires crouching, stooping, climbing/balancing, reaching overhead, grasping/handling, pushing/pulling, lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs., and driving to perform the essential functions. It also requires exposure to loud noise, extreme cold, and heights or cramped quarters, as well as rare exposure to respiratory factors, chemicals, vibrations, wet or humid conditions indoors, extreme heat, and proximity hazards to perform the essential functions. Protective equipment is required for some essential functions. Candidates must possess the ability to safely perform the physical work required of all duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
