Qualifications:
  • Must be a current high school student.
  • Must have concentrated on courses in the Human Services/Education & Training Pathway of Study.
  • Must have taken or be enrolled in FVTC Intro to Education Practices/Technology in Education course.
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrate the ability to be flexible in order to meet the changing needs of students within the least restrictive environment.
  • Must be able to work as a team with educational staff.
  • Must be able to work and organize in a timely manner.
  • Must have the stamina and ability to work and stand for long periods of time.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in monitoring student individual work time
  • Help to create displays in classroom or display cases
  • Assist in preparations for special projects or activities you have in your classroom
  • Work with small groups of students on a particular subject area (small group reading, math...)
  • Lead a classroom lesson
  • Read a story
  • Serve as behavioral and academic supervisor
  • Provide academic, behavioral and life instruction
  • Complete clerical duties and maintenance of classroom records as assigned by the teacher.
  • Work under the supervision of the teacher to assist in preparation of classroom for specific learning experiences.
  • Provide support to students maintaining the least restrictive environment(s).
  • Help set up the classroom environment over the summer as needed
