Position Summary

The Dean for Students Office seeks a student-centered, organized, and dependable Student Assistant to support front desk operations, student engagement initiatives, and administrative functions. Student Assistants serve as ambassadors for the office, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment while assisting students, families, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.

This position provides valuable professional experience in higher education administration, customer service, student support, event planning, and office operations.

Essential ResponsibilitiesFront Desk & Customer Service
  • Greet students, families, faculty, staff, and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and direct individuals to appropriate campus resources.
  • Monitor office traffic and maintain accurate visitor logs.
  • Assist with email management and basic correspondence.
Administrative Support
  • Perform data entry, filing, scanning, and document management tasks.
  • Maintain organized records and follow established office procedures.
  • Assist with scheduling, calendar management, and special projects.
  • Ensure accuracy and attention to detail when completing assignments.
Student Support & Engagement
  • Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a student-centered approach.
  • Demonstrate empathy, active listening, and professionalism when interacting with students.
  • Help connect students with appropriate campus resources and support services.
  • Contribute to creating an inclusive and welcoming office environment.
Programming & Event Support
  • Assist with planning, preparation, setup, and breakdown of office programs and events.
  • Support initiatives such as First-Generation Programs, Fare Trade, wellness programs, and other Dean for Students Office events.
  • Engage with participants and provide logistical support during programs.
Professionalism & Office Operations
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to FERPA regulations and university policies.
  • Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to work each shift.
  • Demonstrate initiative by identifying needs and completing tasks independently.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workspace.
  • Return materials to designated locations and assist in maintaining shared office spaces.
Qualifications
  • Must have Federal Work Study
  • Current Pace University student in good standing.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail.
