JOB TITLE: Akin Center Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Student Activities and Discipleship

DIVISION: Student Life

SUPERVISOR: Akin Center Center Supervisor

PAY: $11/hr.

  1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB (What are the end results or objectives of this position? Why does the job exist?)

The purpose of the Event Staff position is to serve as support staff for the Akin Center Supervisor and the initiatives and mission statement of the Student Life Office.

  1. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (What duties are required for the position to exist?)

  • Complete all scheduled event setups and tear downs at the assigned times.

  • Includes organizing tables and chairs, retrieving and filling ice coolers, vacuuming, and any other special requests if needed.

  • Sweep (daily) and mop (weekly) the basketball gym.

  • Wipe down safety pads.

  • Daily cleaning of weight room, cardio room, and fitness room.

  • Sweep floors.

  • Clean windows and mirrors.

  • Wipe down and sanitize all equipment.

  • Vacuum carpet.

  • Clean the entrance and exit doors.

  • Clean office windows

  • Sweep stairwells and lobby areas.

  • Dust areas around Akin Center.

  • Do laundry for cleaning towels.

  • Trash sweeps around the building.

  1. OTHER DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES (Responsibilities/important duties performed occasionally or in addition to the essential duties of the position.)

  • Must attend required semester staff meetings.

  • Must be available to help with special events such, but not limited to, Welcome Week, Lunch on the Lawn, etc.

  • Any additional aid to the Director of Student Life and Akin Center Supervisor as needed.

  1. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (Provide the number and type of employees supervised, level of authority to hire and fire or to make recommendations.)

  • None

  1. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS (Indicate which are required, preferred, or desirable. Include licenses and certificates.)

  • Proficient people and communication skills are desirable.

  • Strong work ethic desirable.

  • Punctuality is required.

  1. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY (Budgeting responsibilities, approval privileges on purchase orders and check requests, reporting and auditing functions.)

  • None

  1. EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT (Within and outside the Seminary)

  • Moderate contact with Akin Center participants.

  1. PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Walking, lifting, equipment, operation, etc.)

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and spend extended periods standing and walking.

  1. WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT (i.e., necessary travel, unusual work hours, unusual environmental conditions, etc.)

  • Occasionally weekends.
