The Registered Nurse (RN) supports clinical operations within an academic oral and maxillofacial surgery ( OMS ) clinic, with a primary focus on sedation safety, perioperative patient care, and resident education. This role ensures consistent adherence to clinical protocols, regulatory standards, and best practices in a fast-paced outpatient surgical environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support outpatient surgical and sedation procedures, including patient preparation, intraoperative monitoring, and recovery care in accordance with established protocols
  • Reinforce sedation safety standards and ensure compliance with institutional, state, and accreditation requirements
  • Provide handsโ€‘on support and guidance to residents and students during clinical care, particularly in perioperative workflows and patient safety practices
  • Conduct preoperative nursing assessments and assist in patient readiness for procedures
  • Monitor patients during recovery and elevate concerns appropriately and support clinic flow, patient throughput, and coordination of care
  • Administer medications as ordered and within scope of practice
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives, including helping to maintain equipment readiness, emergency and sedationโ€‘related supplies
  • Responsible for patient monitoring, protocol adherence, and recovery management during sedation procedures,
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Wisconsin
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Minimum 2โ€“3 years of clinical experience; outpatient surgery, PACU , ICU , or procedural care preferred
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience in PACU , ICU or procedural care
  • Experience with moderate sedation and patient monitoring
  • Familiarity with academic or teaching environments
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work across trainee levels
