Job description

Position Summary

The Student Ministry Director provides vision, leadership, and direction for the Student Ministry through team development, student engagement, and parent partnerships. This role exists to help students become fully devoted followers of Jesus who are engaged in God’s Word and equipped to serve others.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for Student Ministry, including strategy, planning, and execution
  • Collaborate with church leadership on ministry vision, systems, and procedures
  • Oversee assigned ministry areas and ensure alignment across all student environments

Programming & Environments

  • Design and oversee engaging weekly services and yearly student experiences
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and spiritually impactful environment for students
  • Ensure all ministry spaces and technical systems are prepared and functioning properly

Volunteer Leadership

  • Recruit, train, and develop volunteer leaders across all ministry areas
  • Build a healthy, growing serve team culture
  • Provide ongoing coaching, care, and leadership development for volunteers

Student & Parent Engagement

  • Build meaningful relationships with students, parents, and families
  • Partner with parents as the primary spiritual influence in students’ lives
  • Follow up with new students and families and support ongoing connections

Discipleship & Development

  • Identify and develop student leaders through mentorship and opportunities to serve
  • Oversee small groups, events, and discipleship pathways
  • Lead and execute camps, retreats, outreach events, and mission opportunities

Operations & Communication

  • Manage ministry systems including attendance, databases, and communication platforms
  • Communicate consistently through email, social media, and church channels
  • Develop and manage the annual ministry budget and steward resources effectively

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant ministry or leadership experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to recruit, develop, and lead teams
  • Comfortable with technology and able to quickly learn new systems
