Overall Job Summary
Tractor Supply Company is currently hiring for our 2027 Distribution Center (DC) Human Resources Summer Internship Program in Hagertown, MD. This is an onsite, 11-week internship beginning in May 2027.
The Distribution Center Human Resources Summer Internship is designed for students interested in building a career in Human Resources while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced distribution environment. Interns will work alongside experienced HR and Operations leaders while supporting HR programs and initiatives that directly impact Distribution Center Team Members.
Throughout the summer, interns will gain exposure to areas such as Team Member relations, recruiting, onboarding, training, HR policies and compliance, workforce data, and safety. Interns will contribute to meaningful projects, develop an understanding of how HR partners with Operations, and gain firsthand experience supporting the Team Member lifecycle. The program provides an opportunity to strengthen HR, communication, and leadership skills while learning how our Distribution Centers support Tractor Supply's nationwide operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
Intern responsibilities may include:
HR Policies & Compliance - Support the communication and consistent application of HR policies, procedures, employment practices, and applicable regulations.
Team Member Relations - Partner with HR leaders to support Team Member questions and workplace matters while building positive relationships across the Distribution Center.
HR Data & Insights - Assist with analyzing workforce data, exit interview feedback, and other HR metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition - Support recruiting activities for hourly and technical positions, including application review, candidate screening, interviews, and hiring initiatives.
Training & Development - Assist with coordinating and facilitating training and development activities for Distribution Center Team Members.
Onboarding & Orientation - Support new hire orientation and onboarding activities to help provide a positive experience for new Team Members.
Safety Support - Partner with HR and Operations leaders on safety-related initiatives, investigations, and efforts that promote a safe working environment.
HR Projects & Process Improvement - Contribute to HR projects and initiatives focused on improving processes, the Team Member experience, and overall Distribution Center effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's or master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field; rising seniors preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Ability to organize information, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced Distribution Center environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to relocate to and reside in the Hagerstown, MD area for the duration of the internship.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
  • Previous internship, work, leadership, or related industry experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in Human Resources, operations, or Distribution Center environments.
  • Ability to analyze information and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with Team Members at all levels of the organization.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced, operational environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset with an interest in supporting Team Members and the business.
