Position Overview
As a Student Worker in the Logistics Sales team, you will play an essential role in tracking shipments throughout their lifecycle using innovative technology systems. This role will help ensure complete visibility for our customers, maintain the highest level of data integrity, and provide excellent customer service in a dynamic and competitive team environment. You will be responsible for supporting our team in managing shipments, updating customer portals, and ensuring a seamless flow of information between customers, internal teams, and external partners. Additionally, you will help maintain the accuracy of documents and standard operating procedures (SOPs) within our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Tracking Shipments & Data Integrity

    • Use technology systems to track shipments and provide real-time updates to customers.
    • Ensure 100% visibility of shipment status throughout its lifecycle.
    • Review and maintain shipment records to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  2. Customer Service

    • Respond to customer inquiries regarding shipment status in a timely and professional manner.
    • Provide proactive updates to customers on their shipments.
    • Assist in communication with customers and update shipment information in customer portals.
  3. Scheduling & Coordination

    • Schedule pickup and delivery appointments with pre-arranged facilities.
    • Coordinate with third-party vendors and service providers to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
    • Collect and verify shipment paperwork (e.g., bills of lading, delivery receipts).
  4. Documentation & Organization

    • Organize and maintain team documents and files related to shipments, schedules, and customer service.
    • Contribute to the maintenance and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and internal processes.
  5. Teamwork & Communication

    • Collaborate effectively with team members to meet goals and deadlines.
    • Exhibit a high-energy, positive attitude that fosters a team environment.
    • Demonstrate clear, professional communication, both written and verbal.
    • Thrive in a competitive, fast-paced work environment.

Qualifications

  • Current student (undergraduate or graduate level) with availability of 20-29 hours per week.
  • ITS will work with your school schedule but prefer schedules that can be in the office earlier in the day (e.g., 3 days a week from 7am - 1pm).
  • Strong interest in logistics, supply chain management, or customer service.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with technology and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Positive attitude and high energy with a desire to contribute to a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.

Program Structure

  • Orientation: One week of ITS Training (hands-on/in classroom) introducing company systems, shipment tracking tools, and customer service procedures.
  • On The Job Training: On-the-job training in shipment tracking software, customer communication strategies, and data integrity best practices.
  • Mentorship: Pairing with a senior team member for ongoing support, guidance, and professional development.
  • Project Work: Opportunities to take ownership of specific tasks or projects to improve shipment tracking or customer service processes.
  • Student Workers: Logistics Sales function as entry-level LAs.
  • Talent Acquisition: Assigns students to teams based on business need, incorporating it into internal talent planning meetings.
  • Training Rotation: Ideally, students will attend the first week of training to get familiar with vocabulary, terminology, equipment types, Loop, and DART training.
