Preferred Student Classification Nature & Purpose of Position
28 Hours per week will be within Monday through Friday 8 - 5
SHSU Online Operations student assistants work in a positive, structured, team centered environment. This position provides support to the Online Operations department in a variety of areas, including but not limited to administration, faculty development, and course development. They might also assist by inserting captions, creating transcripts, and working with audio edits associated with various videos and multimedia. The student assistant will communicate with internal (faculty and staff) and external customers via email and/or chat communications. Direction, guidance, and support will be provided as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Complete assigned support requests in a timely manner while ensuring that all quality customer service standards are upheld
  • Work collaboratively with other team members and SHSU Online staff to ensure the successful completion of assigned support requests
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Prioritize responsibilities to meet requested due dates
  • Work with Microsoft 365 apps (including Teams)
  • Complete regularly assigned training and quality assurance protocols successfully
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Other Requirements for the Position
You must be currently enrolled as a student at Sam Houston State University taking at least 6 credit hours to be eligible for this position.
The position is located off-campus at SHSU University Plaza (1 Financial Plaza, Huntsville, TX).
