Matheson Constructors is always looking to connect with motivated students interested in gaining hands-on experience and building a career in the construction industry.

Our co-op and student opportunities provide students with meaningful exposure to active projects, construction operations, and the teams responsible for delivering them. Depending on your educational background, interests, availability, and current business needs, opportunities may be available across a variety of departments and project teams.

This is an ongoing posting for current and future co-op and student opportunities. Applications will be reviewed as positions become available throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities Project & Field Support

Depending on the opportunity, students may:

  • Support project teams with day-to-day project coordination and administration.
  • Assist with construction documentation, drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other project records.
  • Support site operations and coordination activities.
  • Assist with project tracking, reporting, scheduling, and progress documentation.
  • Participate in site visits and gain exposure to construction activities and field operations.
Pre-Construction & Estimating Support
  • Assist with quantity take-offs and other estimating activities.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Support bid preparation, subcontractor coordination, and pre-construction activities.
  • Gain exposure to the planning and estimating processes that support project delivery.
Learning & Development
  • Work alongside experienced construction and business professionals.
  • Develop an understanding of Matheson's project lifecycle, systems, and operating environment.
  • Participate in student learning, networking, and development opportunities.
  • Receive ongoing guidance and feedback from managers, mentors, and project team members.
  • Build practical skills and industry knowledge through hands-on experience.
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Follow Matheson's Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in required safety orientations and training.
  • Promote a safe working environment and demonstrate a commitment to hazard awareness and prevention.
  • Follow project and company policies, procedures, and standards.
Qualifications Education & Experience
  • Currently enrolled in a recognized college or university co-op, internship, or work-integrated learning program.
  • Students pursuing studies in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, Project Management, or another related discipline are encouraged to apply.
  • Previous construction, project, or field experience is considered an asset but is not required.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to learn new construction software, systems, and technical tools.
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings and documentation is considered an asset.
  • Interest in developing knowledge of construction methods, project coordination, and project delivery.
