Job description

Student Assistant

The California Regional Water Quality Control Board, San Diego Region (San Diego Water Board) has an opening for a Student Assistant in the Stormwater Management Unit. The position is at an office building in the Mission Valley community of San Diego at 2375 Northside Drive, San Diego, near light rail, freeways, and restaurants.

Under the supervision of a Senior Water Resource Control Engineer and consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the State Board's Strategic Plan and the San Diego Water Board's Practical Vision, the incumbent will perform water quality work related to the San Diego Water Board's Stormwater Program. Specific job duties and responsibilities are described in the Duty Statement.

The position requires the application of artificial intelligence tools, algorithms, and prompts in performing activities related to analyzing stormwater data, reviewing reports, and database administration. Performing field inspections may be required to confirm data. The incumbent is expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal/external customers, following through on commitments, and to solicit and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments. The incumbent will integrate artificial intelligence tools with data interpretation/visualization tools to analyze and evaluate inventory data and increase efficiencies of administrative tasks; and will develop tools to automate administrative actions. The incumbent is expected to work collaboratively with other staff and regulatory agencies; and provide written and verbal presentations to the public and Board members.

Candidates must possess essential personal qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and the ability to perform the assigned duties of the class.
