Job description

Title: Dean of Students- North Campus
Reports to: Principal
Job Goal: The Dean of Students serves a dual role, providing leadership in fostering a positive school culture while directly supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral development of students. This position blends school counseling responsibilities with selected administrative duties, with a focus on student well-being, family partnership, and a faith-filled school environment.
Performance Responsibilities:
Student Support amp; Counseling

Provide short-term, solution-focused counseling to students (individual and small group)
Support students’ social-emotional development and well-being
Respond to student concerns including peer conflict, anxiety, and behavioral challenges
Partner with teachers to implement classroom strategies that support student success
Coordinate referrals to outside professionals when needed
Maintain appropriate documentation while respecting confidentiality

School Culture amp; Climate
Promote a positive, faith-centered school culture aligned with the mission of the school
Lead initiatives related to student behavior, character development, and wellness
Support implementation of school-wide expectations for student conduct
Assist in developing and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment
Administrative amp; Leadership Support
Assist the Principal with student discipline in a formative, restorative manner
Participate in parent meetings related to student concerns
Support supervision of students (arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, etc.)
Assist with coordination of crisis response as needed
Contribute to faculty meetings and professional development related to student support
Responsible for North Campus in the absence of the Principal
Family Communication amp; Partnership
Serve as a point of contact for parents regarding student social-emotional and behavioral concerns
Communicate proactively and compassionately with families
Provide resources and guidance to support students at home and school
Collaboration
Work closely with teachers, support staff, and administration
Participate in student support or intervention team meetings
Collaborate on plans for students requiring additional support
Work closely with Rochester Community Schools and be the first point of contact for all support provided by the district
Job Qualifications:
Practicing Catholic in good standing, committed to the mission of Catholic education
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, parish staff, and students
Must have strong commitment to Catholic education and model behavior in accordance with Holy Family Regional School mission and philosophy.
Understand and abide by the Archdiocese of Detroit contract for employment and the specifications it contains regarding the expectations of a Catholic school employee.
Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in School Counseling, Educational Leadership, or related field preferred
Valid counseling and/or administrative certification (as applicable)
Experience working in an elementary school setting
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Commitment to the mission and values of a faith-based school
