Position Title: Student Assistant
Department: Office of Student Involvement
Reports To: Administrative Secretary & Director
Appointment Type: La Sierra University Student (must be enrolled in classes)
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Weekly Hours: 10-12hrs/week
Pay Rate: $16.90/hr
Position Summary
Under direct supervision of the Administrative Secretary and the Director, the Student Assistant provides administrative, clerical, and programmatic support for the Office of Student Involvement. This position supports daily office operations, assists with major campus events, contributes to marketing and engagement efforts, and helps foster a welcoming and inclusive campus environment. The role is a general support ("catch-all") position requiring flexibility, initiative, and strong interpersonal skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative Support
  • Provide front-facing customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors
  • Answer phones, respond to emails, and relay information in a professional manner
  • Perform clerical tasks, including filing, data entry, and document preparation
  • Assist with Eagle Communications submissions and related processes
  • Maintain organized office systems and records
  • Presents to prospective students during UE days

Event Support
  • Assist with the coordination, setup, execution, and breakdown of campus events, including but not limited to:
    • IGNITE
    • Welcome Back Bash
    • HUB Fair
    • Christmas Tree Lighting
    • Festival of Nations
    • End of Year Bash
  • Provide on-site support to ensure events run efficiently and successfully

Marketing and Engagement
  • Assist with social media promotion of campus events and activities
  • Create engaging, creative content to increase student participation
  • Support outreach efforts to enhance campus involvement

Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to think creatively
  • Demonstrated clerical skills, including filing, organization, and typing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Eagle Connect
  • Experience with or knowledge of social media platforms
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service in a diverse campus environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Reliability, accuracy, and flexibility in a work setting
