POSITION TITLE: Mental Health Counselor
DATE: June 2026
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
LOCATION: District
POSITION GOAL: Provide support to the Student Assistant Services Department

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conduct drug and alcohol assessments and make recommendations
  2. Provide guidance information and resources
  3. Make referrals to appropriate community resources in accordance with school district guidelines
  4. Coordinate and implement group guidance programs, including anger management, grief, COA, changing families, anxiety, social skills, stress management, peer relations, and others topics as deemed necessary
  5. Respond to crisis situations when appropriate
  6. Collaborate with and support the Student Assistant Services Department


QUALIFICATIONS:

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.

  1. Bachelor's Degree in related field required
  2. Master's Degree and/or License in related field preferred
  3. Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop good relationships with students, peers, parents and community.
  4. Well organized with good time management skills.
  5. Ability to express self clearly and concisely in oral and written communications; and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
  6. Computer literate and competent with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
  7. Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.
  8. Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

$25.00 per hour, 499 hours for the year
