AT
HAMDEN MIDDLE SCHOOL
FOR ONE SCHOOL YEAR
 2026-27 SY 




Employee Qualifications:

  1. Any valid Connecticut teaching certification
  2. Minimum of five years teaching experience
  3. Experience in public school setting preferred
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

Reports To:

Hamden Middle School Principal or designee

Job Goal:

Assist school staff in the maintenance and enforcement of school rules and acceptable student behavior and support all staff in maintaining a safe and orderly environment.  

Essential Performance Responsibilities:   

  1. Responds to student disciplinary referrals from staff.
  2. Confers with and counsels' students involved in disciplinary infractions.
  3. Confer with parents, teachers and the support staff to develop plans to promote acceptable student behavior
  4. Assist in the resolution of conflicts between students utilizing restorative practices
  5. Supports after school detention programs as directed.
  6. Monitors and investigate student class cut reports.
  7. Confers with and counsel students regarding their attendance and their status under the attendance policy.
  8. Confers with parents, teachers, counseling, and other support staff to develop plans to promote improved attendance to school and class.
  9. Assists with general student supervision in and outside the building.
  10. Analyzes relevant student data to determine trends regarding student attendance and student behavior
  11. Identifies matters of concern regarding the operation of the school and make recommendations to school administration
  12. Investigates allegations of bullying when assigned by Hamden Middle School Administration
  13. Communicates with students, teachers, administrators, parents, school counselors, school nurses, security personnel, police department, and others regarding attendance and disciplinary matters.
  14. Communicates effectively via memo, letter, phone, email, etc. to the Principal, Assistant Principals, school staff, and the public
  15. Performs other related tasks as assigned by school administration, the Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Schools and/or the Superintendent of School
