EXTRA-CURRICULAR POSITIONS - DIRECTIONS FOR APPLICANTS
In order to be considered an eligible candidate for the 2026-2027 Extra-Curricular Fall/Full-Year positions, the following must be completed:
1. Current Salem School District employees:
* Complete an application in Applitrack and upload a letter of intent no later than August 31, 2026.
2. Non-Salem School District employees who do NOT currently holding an extra-curricular position should do the following:
โ€ข Complete an "external application" through Applitrack by the posted deadline of August 31, 2026. An "external application" will provide the district with your demographic information along with any previous experience.
โ€ข Address a letter of introduction/cover letter to the Superintendent of Schools and upload the letter to Applitrack.
โ€ข Upload a current resume to Applitrack.
โ€ข Submit the application.
The class advisor duties and responsibilities include:
1. Helps students develop leadership skills, plan events, and execute projects that benefit the school community.
2. Assist students in accessing resources, such as funding, materials, and support from school administration, to implement their initiatives effectively.
3. Helps ensure that student leaders understand basic meeting rules and the parameters, scope, origins of power, and the duties of their offices.
4. Helps student leaders set good goals for the organization and supports the planning to reach those goals.
5. Encourages student involvement and engagement in school activities, fostering a sense of belonging and school spirit.
6.Trains student leaders in the basics of leadership and how they apply to the organization duties, meeting management, the constitution, school rules and mission, communication skills, and more.
7. Offers mentorship, advice, and emotional support to student council members, helping them navigate challenges and develop as leaders.
8. To encourage the scheduling of meetings to organize events and sponsor fundraising activities and to supervise such meetings.
9. To plan with class officers a calendar of events and activities that meets the approval of the building administrator so as to forewarn people of class activities and make possible the appropriate and sufficient planning of these events.
10. Serves as a liaison between the student council and school administration, communicating student ideas, concerns, and initiatives.
11. To ensure the appropriate paperwork requesting prior approval for all fundraising activities and building use is completed and submitted for approval.
12. To ensure a financial ledger is maintained (detailing transaction dates, amounts of deposits, requested amounts for checks, and ongoing balances), monitor the record-keeping process, and ensure the ledger is complete and accurate.
13. Ensures that student council activities align with school policies, regulations, and ethical standards.
