Scope of Responsibility:

This position is responsible for overseeing the implementation of welding procedures and welding personnel at STS.

Essential Duties:

  • Communicate with the Plant Managers, Supervisors and Weld Technicians regarding welding personnel who are having difficulties performing to standards.
  • Assist with the training of new employees and employees needing refinement or up-grading of certifications.
  • Assist and identify welding related issues (personnel, consumable or equipment related).
  • Ensure that all welding personnel are operating within the STS welding parameters for the procedures that are being used.
  • High level of training capabilities, which ensures leadership and motivation of employees to attain high standards of safety, quality and productivity.
  • Knowledge and awareness of the safety issues related to each operation performed within the department and must assure that all employees adhere to safe practices at all times.
  • Be able to fill in when for Production leads when asked during absences
  • Able to weld or tack weld in production lines as needed; when training and other duties aren't needed.
  • Able to complete special projects in all production aspects when needed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all personnel are using safe work practices

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent desired.
  • 1+ years recent experience in a welding environment preferred.
  • Must be able to read, understand and communicate effectively in the English language.
  • Must contribute to the success of the team.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to accurately read blue prints, tape measure and comprehend documents such as safety roles, operating and procedure manuals.
  • Must have the ability to pass Sabre's Welder B certification, and certify to use overhead cranes and gantries.

Physical Requirements:

  • Position is in a manufacturing environment. Environment could be noisy, dusty and will vary in temperature.
  • Must be able to perform work functions while standing for long periods of time.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required per the Company's safety policies and programs.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds, frequently exerting 30 pounds of force.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, reach, and grasp.
  • Must be able to use foot pedal to operate equipment.
  • Must be able to pass standard pre-employment vision test.
