What is the STS Cardiac Database?

The STS Cardiac Database is a comprehensive clinical registry maintained by The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) that collects data on cardiac surgical procedures performed at participating hospitals. It is widely used to track outcomes, improve quality of care, and support research in cardiac surgery. Hospitals and clinicians use the database to benchmark their performance, identify areas for improvement, and contribute to the advancement of heart surgery practices. Participation in the STS Cardiac Database helps institutions meet reporting requirements and enhances patient safety.

What are the main responsibilities of someone working with the STS Cardiac Database?
