Position Summary
The Quality Systems Manager is responsible for leading food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance programs at New Horizons Baking Company. This role oversees Quality Assurance and Sanitation department functions, ensuring compliance with GFSI standards, regulatory requirements, and internal food safety and quality systems.
As a key member of the site leadership team, this position drives continuous improvement in food safety, sanitation, and quality performance and serves as the GFSI Compliance Lead and HACCP Team Leader for the facility.
Essential Duties amp; Responsibilities
  • Lead and maintain food safety, quality, sanitation, and compliance programs
  • Oversee Quality Assurance and Sanitation department functions, including contract sanitation and pest control services
  • Serve as GFSI Compliance Lead and HACCP Team Leader
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and company standards
  • Conduct daily verification of product quality, GMPs, sanitation effectiveness, and HACCP controls
  • Lead and support third-party, customer, and regulatory audits and inspections
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready documentation and records
  • Manage on-hold and non-conforming product disposition
  • Investigate customer complaints, deviations, and non-conformities; implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Train employees on food safety, quality, and sanitation programs, including annual plant-wide training
  • Develop, track, and report quality and sanitation metrics
  • Support validation of equipment, systems, and processes
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, and Leadership teams
  • Respond to customer requests for quality, food safety, and facility documentation
  • Perform additional duties as assigne
Food Safety, Quality amp; Compliance Responsibilities
  • Enforce all food safety, quality, and sanitation programs
  • Verify documentation accuracy and compliance with record-keeping requirements
  • Identify and address food safety, legal, and quality risks
  • Ensure adherence to the Food Safety and Quality Manual and GFSI standards
  • Support and maintain product recall readiness
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in food manufacturing quality or food safety
  • Experience leading GFSI programs (SQF, BRC, or equivalent)
  • HACCP certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GMPs, sanitation programs, food safety regulations, and audit requirements
  • Proven leadership and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
