Job description

 SUMMARY 

Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Safety Engineer I in our Structured Cabling Group that will be responsible for implementing Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites and ensuring a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors to the construction work site. 

  • We are unable to sponsor to take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time

  • MEP and Data Center experience is preferred, but not required 

  • Travel is up to 100% anywhere in the U.S. with regular rotations home every 3 weeks for 4 days until project completion or assigned to another project 

The following requirements are non-negotiable. Must have either a 4-year degree in health or safety OR meet all 3 of the following:

  1. HS Diploma 

  2. OSHA30 

  3. CHST by the BCSP (NCCER, CHSO, SSHO certs do not meet certification requirement)

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Implement and administer safety programs at worksites, including site-specific safety activities and training programs 

  • Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, and analyze loss control data 

  • Lead OSHA reporting, monitor subcontractor activities, and review safety submittals 

  • Record, monitor, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics 

  • Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, and maintain knowledge of safety standards 

  • Serve as a resource for safety issues, attend safety meetings, and assist with major incident analysis 

  • Work with client safety personnel, union representatives, and insurance risk engineers 

  • Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, or equivalent;  

OR 

High school diploma with CHST Certification, OSHA 500, and a minimum of 10 years construction experience leading crews and planning work, to include at least six years as a dedicated construction safety professional responsible for managing project safety programs, conducting / reviewing hazard analyses and developing controls, conducting safety training, and planning work activities or equivalent experience in a relevant field 

Minimum of four years of construction safety experience 

Current valid driver's license 

Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks 

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant safety software programs 

Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills 

Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies effectively 

Willingness to travel up to 100%

The base pay range for this role is $89,500 - $120,800. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). 

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.  This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
