Position Summary

MILVETS Systems Technology, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to provide overall field leadership and construction management for the Brooklyn VA Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) Infrastructure Upgrades Project.

The Project Superintendent will serve as the senior on-site construction leader responsible for safety, quality, scheduling, coordination, production, and daily execution of a complex healthcare infrastructure project. This role will oversee multi-trade construction activities including electrical systems, structured cabling, fiber-optic infrastructure, electronic security systems, telecommunications rooms, data center environments, outside plant infrastructure, testing, commissioning, and project closeout.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing large-scale construction projects in occupied healthcare, government, or other highly controlled environments where critical operations must remain active.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall field leadership and supervision for all construction activities.
  • Direct foremen, supervisors, subcontractors, technicians, laborers, and specialty trades.
  • Coordinate daily work activities across multiple buildings, floors, work areas, and shifts.
  • Maintain project safety, quality, productivity, and schedule requirements.
  • Coordinate construction activities within an active VA medical facility while protecting patient care and facility operations.
  • Enforce infection control, dust control, containment, housekeeping, and access requirements.
  • Manage electrical, telecommunications, fiber-optic, security, civil, and technology infrastructure installations.
  • Review drawings, specifications, submittals, schedules, and contract documents.
  • Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules and daily work plans.
  • Track manpower, production, materials, equipment, inspections, and project progress.
  • Identify schedule risks, delays, conflicts, and resource needs.
  • Coordinate shutdowns, cutovers, temporary systems, and phased construction activities.
  • Conduct field coordination meetings and communicate project status to leadership.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, field documentation, photographs, and project records.
  • Ensure quality control inspections, testing, commissioning, punch-list completion, and turnover activities are completed successfully.
  • Support final project acceptance, closeout documentation, and demobilization.

Required Qualifications

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (Required)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent, General Superintendent, or senior field manager
  • Proven experience managing large, multi-trade construction projects
  • Experience supervising electrical, telecommunications, structured cabling, fiber-optic, security, civil, or technology infrastructure work
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, submittals, and contract documents
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety, quality control, inspections, scheduling, and field documentation
  • Ability to manage multiple crews, subcontractors, work areas, and project priorities simultaneously
  • Experience working in occupied, sensitive, or secure facilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer proficiency with email, spreadsheets, scheduling software, document control systems, and construction management platforms
  • Ability to pass federal background screening and obtain access to a VA medical facility
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of experience managing healthcare, hospital, or medical facility construction
  • Previous Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) construction experience
  • Experience with EHRM, healthcare technology infrastructure, data centers, or telecommunications room renovations
  • Experience with phased construction, shutdowns, cutovers, and maintaining operational systems
  • Experience with Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software
  • Experience working under federal construction contracts
  • Familiarity with Davis-Bacon requirements
  • Experience with:
    • Structured cabling systems
    • Fiber-optic installation and testing
    • Electrical distribution systems
    • Electronic security systems
    • Duct banks, manholes, and underground infrastructure
    • Firestopping and rated penetrations
  • Quality Control Manager or Site Safety and Health Officer experience
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • Competent Person training (excavation, confined space, fall protection, scaffolding)
