Job description

The Structures Designer II prepares computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) contract plan sheets for bridges, highway structures, retaining walls, and other transportation infrastructure projects within the Florida Department of Transportation's District Four. The position assists in reviewing consultant-produced reports, plans, and design calculations, ensures compliance with FDOT and federal design standards, and provides technical support for structural engineering projects under the guidance of Technical Professionals.

Key qualifications:
  • Knowledge of FDOT Standard Specifications, AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, and structural engineering practices
  • Proficiency with Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software and structural design/analysis software
  • Ability to solve engineering problems and effectively communicate and coordinate with others
  • High school diploma or equivalent and one year of continuous employment experience
  • Skilled in Microsoft Programs (Excel, Word, etc.)
