Job description

Position Overview *This is an open and continuous recruitment which will remain open for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days and close without notice once a sufficient pool of highly-qualified candidates has been created. The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Structural Engineer I/II in the Department of Building & Fire Safety/DSC. *The department will consider and may hire a candidate who is qualified at either the level I (EIT) or level II in the Structural Engineer series.

The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year. Under general supervision, reviews plans and specifications for structural requirements and code compliance while performing professional structural engineering activities relating to residential, commercial, and industrial projects for the Department of Building and Fire Safety; and performs related duties as assigned. This classification is distinguished as being the first in the Structural Engineer series.

The Structural Engineer I does not require registration as a Professional Engineer. Incumbents may be eligible to non-competitively advance to Structural Engineer II when they are licensed as a Professional Engineer with the State of Nevada and all the requirements of the Structural Engineer II position have been met and verified.
