Job Title: Structural Engineer/Plan Examiner

Location: On-Site in Miami, FL

We are currently seeking an experienced and licensed Structural Engineer/Plan Examiner for immediate hire, ideally holding a Florida P.E. license.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a technically proficient Structural Engineer/Plan Examiner who can independently manage projects from schematic design through construction with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing engineering calculations, overseeing construction documents, and coordinating structural designs with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan Examination: Review building permits for new and existing installations, ensuring compliance with the Florida Building Code and other relevant standards.
  • Code Compliance: Identify and recommend solutions for defects, omissions, and violations in building projects. Ensure all construction work meets national and county building codes.
  • Coordination: Work with architects, engineers, building officials, and contractors to integrate structural design seamlessly with other disciplines.
  • Construction Administration: Conduct site visits, review shop drawings, and interpret construction documents. Ensure manufactured products used in construction meet original specifications.
  • Technical Support: Provide expert advice on the Florida Building Code, Miami-Dade County Code, and other standards. Assist field inspectors and other departments with code compliance.
  • Evaluation: Assess alternate methods and materials for code compliance. Evaluate contractor qualifications for project feasibility.
  • Communication: Clearly and concisely convey technical information orally and in writing. Maintain professional relationships with architects, engineers, and contractors.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Certification: Licensed Professional Engineer in Florida or certified by the State of Florida as a Structural Plans Examiner.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of structural design experience with a consulting firm is preferred.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of engineering principles, construction methods, and code requirements. Familiarity with architectural and structural plan evaluation.
  • Skills: Strong ability to interpret construction plans, manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines, and lead a team effectively.
