Job description

Structural Welder – Swing Shift

Pay: $28–$32/hr (Paid lunch included – no shift differential)

Location: NE Portland, OR

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Structural Welder to join our team on swing shift. This role focuses on flux core welding of thick gauge steel in a fast-paced fabrication environment. You will play a key role in welding, layout, and fitting of structural components while ensuring quality and precision throughout the build process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform structural welding using various wire sizes, primarily flux core
  • Weld 1/2” and thicker mild steel in positions 1G–3G
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and layout drawings
  • Complete full layout and fitting of structural assemblies
  • Conduct quality checks to verify measurements and tolerances
  • Collaborate with team members to complete job sections efficiently
  • Operate across all stages of projects including layout, fit-up, welding, and final inspection
  • Assist with pre-fabrication work as needed

Qualifications

  • Experience with structural welding and fabrication required
  • Ability to pass a 1/2” plate test (3G for welders; 1G for fitters/leads)
  • Strong blueprint reading and layout skills
  • Certifications such as WABO, AWS, or 3G are a plus but not required

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Swing Shift: Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM
  • 100,000 sq. ft. AISC-certified facility with full fabrication capabilities
  • On-site sandblasting and painting operations
  • Advanced drafting and modeling department supporting production
  • Work on structural fabrication projects, including large-scale conveying systems

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
