The term 'per diem' indicates that workers receive a daily allowance to cover living expenses while working away from home. These jobs are common in construction, shipbuilding, and industrial projects where skilled welders are needed for specific durations. Per diem compensation helps attract qualified workers to job sites that may be in different cities or states. The work often requires certifications and adherence to safety standards.

As part of this, you may read the plans for each section you are asked to build, examine the materials, weld from aerial lifts, and maintain various tools. A per diem job either offers a day rate of pay or offers a daily allowance for living expenses on top of a salary or hourly pay. A per diem structural welder usually travels to work on a project, sometimes as a fill-in for other on structures for an extended period.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a structural welder per diem?
