Position Description
Ironworker Working Foreman
Summary:
The Ironworker Foreman is a hands-on/working Foreman who leads crews to erect structural and miscellaneous steel. This position requires an experienced Ironworker Foreman who is versed in conventional structural steel erection and stairs. At times, Foreman will perform welding and limited millwright functions.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Drives crew for production value and efficiency
  • Acts as a hands-on leader of the crew
  • Unloads, shakes out, and organizes steel materials
  • Erects steel columns, beams and bar joists
  • Installs bridging in bar joist
  • Experienced in installing metal roof/floor deck
  • Installs materials efficiently while meeting acceptable job specific tolerances
  • Welds and/or bolts connections per details
  • Installs roof and floor edge angle and bent plate
  • Installs miscellaneous structural steel including kicker brace, support channel, hangers, posts, etc.
  • Lays out and installs roof/floor frames
  • Welds moment connections
  • Bolts aligned structural-steel members in position for permanent bolting or welding into place
  • Sets and grouts precast concrete hollow core plank
  • Erects steel stairs stringer, metal pans, guardrail, and handrail
  • Erects catwalks and handrails
  • Installs ladders, railings, grating, and other miscellaneous steel
  • Installs cable rail fall protection
  • Provides proper signaling to equipment operators
  • Cuts and welds steel using torches and welding equipment
  • Adheres to the company's safety policies to create a safe work environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements
Ironworker Working Foreman
Desired Qualifications/Skills:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous Structural Steel Erection Foreman Experience Required
  • Rigging experience required
  • Welding Certification 3G, 4G, & 6G
  • Mechanical ability to perform millwright type functions required
  • Sufficient education or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills and characteristics to perform duties of the role
  • 30 Hour OSHA Certification or willingness to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to work at heights without fear
  • Ability to perform on a regular basis in outside weather conditions consisting of wet, hot, humid, and/or freezing temperatures, also contending with dirt and dust
  • Must be willing and able to travel to jobsites which may require overnight stays away from home
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Must have a good work ethic, and the ability to understand and carry out written or verbal instructions
  • Ability to read specifications and blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required
  • Ability to use equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills
