POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for a reliable and skilled Rig Welder with their own welding truck and equipment to support our field and facility projects. This role is ideal for an independent welder who takes pride in high-quality work, has strong attention to detail, and is comfortable working in various environments. Projects may include structural welding, equipment repair, fabrication, and custom metalwork depending on job needs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform on-site welding and fabrication for construction, electrical, and structural projects.
• Work from drawings, blueprints, and verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks.
• Operate and maintain personal rig truck, welding equipment, and tools.
• Inspect welds and completed work to ensure accuracy and strength.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including electricians, supervisors, and contractors.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company standards.
• Travel to job sites as needed (mostly local or regional).
QUALIFICATIONS
• Welding certification (AWS or equivalent)
• Experience in electrical support work or utility infrastructure (bonus)
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification
• Experience in stick, MIG, and TIG welding techniques (as applicable).
• Own fully-equipped rig truck with welder, tools, and PPE.
• Strong understanding of welding safety, codes, and best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and technical drawings.
• Reliable transportation and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
EQUIPMENT & APPLICATIONS /WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Lifting and Carrying - Frequently lifting and carrying tools, materials, and equipment, often weighing up to 25-50 lbs.
• Climbing and Balancing - Using ladders, scaffolding, and lifts to reach high areas for wiring and fixture installations.
• Crouching and Kneeling - Working in tight spaces like crawlspaces, attics, and vaults.
• Standing for Long Periods - Spending hours on their feet while wiring or troubleshooting.
• Repetitive Movements - Engaging in repeated motions such as twisting, bending at the waist, kneeling, stripping wires, twisting connections, and using hand tools continuously
• Working in Uncomfortable Positions - Holding tools or equipment overhead, reaching into confined areas, or maintaining awkward postures.
• Exposure to Weather - Working outdoors in extreme heat, cold, rain, or wind
• Hand and Finger Dexterity - Grasping objects with the use of fingers, palm and wrists to hold/and or manipulate objects (hammers, saws, pencils, pens, etc.)
• Pulling and Pushing - Pulling wires through conduits or pushing heavy equipment into place.
• Carrying Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Wearing and carrying safety gear like hard hats, gloves, harnesses, and boots.
