ROLE : AI Innovation Intern
This is an on-site role based in Hauppauge, NY
The AI Innovation Intern will support the Information Technology department in the development of AI-powered reports, automation tools, and lightweight internal applications that support business operations across multiple departments. This role offers hands-on exposure to real-world business challenges and provides the opportunity to build practical AI-driven solutions that improve workflows, reporting visibility, and operational efficiency.
This position offers a fast-paced, startup-style environment within an established aerospace company where the intern will be expected to take ownership of projects from concept through completion during the internship period.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the developing lightweight internal applications and workflow tools using AI-assisted development platforms and frameworks (e.g., Claude Code, LangChain) and Python.
  • Work directly with IT, Supply Chain, Sales, Customer Support, and other departments to identify operational gaps and translate business needs into practical technical solutions
  • Support the design, development, testing, implementation, and refinement of AI-related tools and applications
  • Take ownership of assigned projects from concept through implementation and final delivery
  • Prototype solutions quickly and iterate based on user feedback and operational requirements
  • Structure data, workflows, reporting logic, and automation processes into simple and practical tools that improve operational efficiency
  • Document applications, workflows, reporting structures, and development processes to support future scalability and enhancements
  • Assist with identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement across the organization
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations related to the broader AI strategy and direction within the IT department
  • Documents everything you build so it can be expanded after your internship
  • Actively seek ways to improve and maintain processes
