Job description

We are an employeeโ€‘owned multiโ€‘disciplined team looking for a Professional Structural Engineer passionate about designing and managing a variety of facilities and other commercial and heavy industrial structures to join our Facilities Engineering team.

You will work alongside Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Structural engineering professionals, delivering building and facility design for industrial, government, education, and mining market clientele throughout Minnesota and across the country.

In this position you will engage in the analysis and design of a wide range of structure types and sizes with an emphasis on light to heavy industrial facilities. You will further develop project management, technical leadership, and client engagement by planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of multiโ€‘disciplined projects from conceptual design through construction administration. You will also mentor less experienced structural engineering professionals and take part in market development by cultivating client relationships, developing proposals, and delivering capability presentations.

You will collaborate with the Structural Group Manager, Market Managers, and Vice President of Facilities Engineering to track prospective business opportunities and represent TKDA at project interviews and networking events. Additionally, you will assist in redefining department standards and identifying the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to expand the teamโ€™s overall service offerings.

Hybrid Work Environment: Tuesdayโ€‘Thursday in office, Monday & Friday remote. Position can work out of our Minneapolis or Milwaukee office.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
  • Licensed Structural Engineer in the State of Minnesota or Wisconsin, with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience designing heavy industrial structures (e.g., manufacturing, mining).
  • Proficiency with RISA 3D or Ram Structural System, MathCAD, and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong working knowledge of structural steel, castโ€‘inโ€‘place concrete, and precast concrete design for new construction and expansion, renovation, conversion, and reinforcement projects.
  • Previous experience conducting condition assessments of existing structures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills when developing proposals, preparing technical reports, leading project team meetings, and delivering client presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop lessโ€‘experienced structural engineering professionals.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% for team meetings, client consultations, site inspections, etc.
Advantageous Qualifications
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Previous business development experience, including preparation of proposals and fee estimates, and delivery of capability presentations.
  • Experience or ambition to manage multiโ€‘disciplined projects.

Compensation: $107,000 - $170,000 per year, with a Milwaukee, Wisconsin range of $109,000 - $173,000 per year.
