Job description

Overview

Kimley-Horn's Alpharetta, GA team is seeking a Structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join their Solar Structures team! Must be willing to travel. This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities
  • Perform structural analysis and design for rooftop solar systems across large building portfolios
  • Evaluate existing structures for solar loading including gravity, wind, and seismic impacts
  • Prepare structural calculations and standardized reports for high-volume projects
  • Review as-built drawings and field data to assess structural capacity
  • Identify retrofit solutions for solar installation feasibility
  • Coordinate with electrical, civil, and solar teams
  • Coordinate and conduct site walks
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects with quick turnaround times
  • Support QA/QC reviews and maintain project documentation
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 1+ years of structural engineering experience
  • Knowledge of building codes (IBC, ASCE 7)
  • Experience with structural analysis software (RAM, RISA, SAP2000 preferred)
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must be willing to travel
