Job description

The Structural Engineer (EIT) role requires knowledge of structural engineering principles, structural engineering analysis, and knowledge of common construction material and their properties. Interest in learning design skills utilizing aluminum and glass, as well as knowledge of traditional primary structural design utilizing steel, concrete and wood.
Key Responsibilities
  • Well grounded in structural modelling, analysis and design
  • Ability to develop and review designs, drawings, specification, and technical memoranda
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments
  • Good ability to shift focus between changing priorities and balance day to day project work (with immediate deadlines) with long term projects
  • Demonstrate a commitment to client service
  • Attention to detail and accuracy are required
  • Highly motivated individual who can work independently, but is team oriented and can provide leadership
  • Able to conceptualize structural and architectural details in three dimensions
  • Proficiency with Word, Powerpoint and Excel
  • Working knowledge of MathCAD prefered
  • Proficiency with at least one of the common FEM software such as SAP2000 or RISA-3D. Working knowledge of Solidworks is a plus.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Applied Science with a structural concentration
  • Engineer in Training
  • Interest and possibility of P.E. registration in U.S. jurisdictions in near future is a must
Skills and Competencies
  • Assist with structural design using a variety of materials under the guidance of a Project Manager or Principal Engineer, and support drawing preparation
  • Technical knowledge in building science an asset
  • Basic ability to draw in SketchUp, Rhino, AutoCAD, or Revit is required
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments

Benefits & Perks
The base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $98,000 annualized for a full-time role. Salary is dependent on various factors, including qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for discretionary incentives and share ownership.
Note: The internal title for this position may vary depending on licensure status. Responsibilities and expectations remain the same.
