Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Structural Engineer in Training with at least three years of professional experience to join our growing team in Sacramento, CA. You will design, analyze, and oversee structural systems for a diverse range of commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects. Working closely with architects, contractors, and project managers, you will deliver safe, efficient, and code-compliant structural solutions that clients can count on.Â
WhatYou'llDoÂ
Perform structural analysis and design calculations using industry-standard software and methodologiesÂ
Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and technical documentation in compliance with applicable building codes and standardsÂ
Conduct site assessments and evaluations to identify structural requirements and potential challengesÂ
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, MEP engineers, and contractors to ensure project coordination and successful executionÂ
Review and evaluate construction documents, shop drawings, and submittals for structural complianceÂ
Provide technical support during construction administration and resolve on-site structural issuesÂ
Optimize structural designs for cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and constructabilityÂ
Keep project files and documentation organized and audit-readyÂ
Keep pace with evolving building codes, industry standards, and best practices, and bring that knowledge into your daily workÂ
Present technical findings and recommendations clearly to clients, team members, and stakeholdersÂ
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering; Master's degree preferredÂ
EIT certification requiredÂ
PE certification obtained or actively in progressÂ
At least threeyears of relevant full-time experience in structural engineering designÂ
Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, SAP2000)Â
Solid understanding of structural engineering principles, mechanics, and materialsÂ
Knowledge of building codes, standards, and construction practicesÂ
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailÂ
Effective written and verbal communication skills for clear project documentation and collaborationÂ
Comfortable owning your work independently while actively engaging as a collaborative team memberÂ

Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentÂ
This role includes regular desk work and occasional site visits, which may involve climbing ladders, navigating uneven terrain, and light lifting (up to 15 lbs).Â

Compensation and BenefitsÂ
CompensationÂ
The base salary for this role is competitive, with a range of$75,000 - $100,000, determined by experience, education, and skills. KPFF also offers performance-based bonuses to recognize outstanding contributions. Additional details about the full compensation package will be provided during the interview process.Â
