Sedgman Canada Ltd is currently looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in Vancouver, B.C. He/she will be responsible for leading and providing technical support on structural engineering projects; this includes conducting structural design, investigation, managing project budgets and schedules, as well as preparing technical reports. The ideal incumbent will be a mentor and coach to a young and enthusiastic team.

Sedgman is a consulting engineering company in the mining space and is currently experiencing a rapid expansion of our North American offices; they are positioned for growth, and this role is business critical within the organization.

What does this role involve?ย 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead project development of structural and concrete designs ensuring compliance with relevant codes, industry standards.

  • Lead concept studies, including estimating quantities and preliminary designs

  • Perform detailed concrete and steel design, including interaction with Drafters to produce models and documentation in line with QA Compliance

  • Assist with construction enquiries, including safe lifting and erection

  • Interface with other Engineering disciplines, including Electrical, Process and Mechanical

  • Focus on technical innovation and continuous improvement

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

What are we looking for in our future team member?ย 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering

  • P.Eng. registration with EGBC or eligible to obtainย 

  • 15+ years of structural engineering experience, with at least 5 in years in a project lead or senior role

  • Strong understanding of steel and concrete design for heavy industrial structures.

  • Demonstrated sound knowledge and experience in design/consultancy/operational environments

  • Previous mining or metals industry experience is highly desired

  • Ability to safely and effectively self-manage time, priorities and activities

  • Well-developed communication and negotiation skills

  • Experience with Canadian building code across the provinces is desirable

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship

Salary Range : $160K - $180K
