The hiring range for the Home Mortgage Specialist is a non-recoverable draw of $18 per hour, or your monthly loan commissions, whichever is greater. We offer a very competitive Home Mortgage compensation package based on our pay scale, which may be modified by location and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

We are looking to hire a highly motivated Loan Officer in the Sacramento Region. You will be joining California’s Local Bank, and one of California’s Premier Community Banks. As a Home Mortgage Specialist, you will partner with the Retail Bank, Commercial Teams, Small Business and Financial Advisor’s. Generating self-source business will be a requirement.

Position Summary 

The Home Mortgage Specialist solicits residential loan applications, quotes mortgage rates, and compiles complete loan packages for submission to the Home Mortgage underwriting department. This position develops and maintains external referral sources while supporting customers referred from assigned branches. The role delivers exceptional customer service and ensures compliance with all regulatory and Bank requirements.

Major Responsibilities

• Meets loan production goals as assigned by the Home Mortgage Sales Manager.
• Providing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
• Real estate loan applications from sources outside the Bank through effective business development efforts.
• Complete loan packages and required documentation for submission to processing while strictly adhering to all regulatory and Bank requirements for the protection of NonPublic Personal Information (NPPI).
• Quotes mortgage rates and explains loan programs accurately and completely to borrowers.
• With loan processors, customers, title companies, and other parties as necessary to support loan completion.
• Productive team atmosphere with assigned branches and the Home Mortgage underwriting department.
• Compliance with Bank policies and procedures and all applicable federal and state laws, including but not limited to BSA (SARs, CIP, OFAC), GLBA, Identity Theft Red Flags, and Financial Elder Abuse Reporting requirements.

Education

• Required: Highschool Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field.

License

• Required: Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) registration through the Nationwide Mortgage License System and Registry (NMLS). 

Other

• Securities licenses, including Series 7 and Series 66, are held and maintained by the Bank or its affiliated entity.

Skills and Knowledge

• Work Experience: Minimum five (5) years of direct experience in mortgage lending or a related field. 
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with customers and business partners.
• Professional, courteous, and efficient customer service skills.
• Residential mortgage products, lending practices, and regulatory requirements.
• In banking and mortgagerelated technology systems, including Microsoft 365, loan origination platforms, and other secure business applications.
