Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Asphalt Paving Machine Operator to join our team. You will be responsible for operating specialized heavy equipment (such as pavers and screeds) to spread, level, and smooth hot-mix asphalt on roads, parking lots, and driveways. The ideal candidate ensures all pavement meets precise project specifications, grade requirements, and quality standards. Lots of opportunity for Overtime with us as well!


Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate the asphalt paver in a straight line at a consistent speed to match truck delivery and prevent segregation.
  • Screed Control: Monitor and adjust screed controls, crown, strike-offs, and sensors to achieve the proper depth, thickness, and cross-slope.
  • Site Coordination: Guide and direct dump trucks backing up to the paver. Collaborate with the foreman, roller operators, and rakers to maintain a continuous, smooth workflow.
  • Daily Maintenance: Perform pre-start and post-trip inspections. Monitor fluid levels, lubricate parts, and report any needed mechanical repairs to the supervisor.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict OSHA guidelines regarding hot asphalt and heavy machinery. Maintain a clean, hazard-free job site.


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven experience operating asphalt paving machinery (specifically pavers and/or screeds).
  • Knowledge: Understanding of asphalt grades, drainage, and paving patterns. Basic knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long shifts, crouch, bend, and work in the summer heat. Ability to lift and carry up to 50+ lbs.
  • License/Certification: Valid Driver's License required. OSHA 10-hour construction certification is preferred.
  • Drug-Free Workplace: Must be able to pass mandatory pre-employment and random drug/substance testing and Background Check.
