Strength/Conditioning Specialist – Vermont Air National GuardThis Position Is Contingent Upon Bid AwardWork Location
Vermont Air National Guard Base108 NCO Drive, South Burlington, Chittenden County, Vermont 05403.
  • Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquiries, Fingerprints, and Drug Screen.
  • Type of Employment: Estimated 40 hours per week
  • Estimated Period of Performance: September 23, 2026, through September 22, 2027.
  • Type of Employment: Full-Time
  • Estimated Pay: $32.25/hour

Working Hours
Tuesday through Saturday within 0600-1700, with typical five-hour periods of 0700-1200 or 1200-1700. Approximately eight night weeks per year may shift work as late as 2000; night-week times are coordinated about two weeks in advance.

Qualifications

  • All personnel must be fully trained, licensed/certified, and qualified under Vermont and industry requirements.
  • Must maintain Strength/Conditioning Specialist certifications/licensure.
  • Must hold and maintain active CPR/AED certification.
  • Must demonstrate enhanced neck/back injury training such as McKenzie Method or equivalent.

Summary of Duties: The Strength/Conditioning Specialist will develop, implement, and modify individualized strength and conditioning programs to optimize fighter aircrew performance and reduce injury risk. Instruct proper exercise techniques, monitor progress, adapt training for injuries or limitations, educate participants on safe training practices, and maintain program documentation.

Attire

The Strength/Conditioning Specialist is expected to wear approved professional clothing appropriate to the environment while on duty. Footwear will be closed-toe, flat-bottom, and completely cover the feet; fluid resistance and non-slip soles are preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized strength and conditioning programs.
  • Instruct proper exercise techniques and safe equipment operation.
  • Monitor participant performance and track training progress.
  • Modify training programs based on injuries, limitations, or performance goals.
  • Conduct fitness assessments and evaluate physical readiness.
  • Educate personnel on strength training, conditioning, and injury prevention.
  • Maintain training records and prepare required program reports.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe training environment.
