THE POSITION
The Streets Maintenance Worker will serve as a key member of the Public Works department by assisting in the operational maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, and all other City infrastructure. The Street Maintenance Worker position will serve the Eastvale community with a "can do" attitude and "get it done" approach to work in a fast-paced environment while working closely with a talented, energetic, and highly engaged team of City talent.

Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of relevant training, education, experience and writing skills as presented in the application, resume, cover letter and supplemental questions. The process may include interviews and/or performance tests. A background investigation including, LIVESCAN fingerprinting and verification of previous employment. Applicants will be required to submit verification of the legal right to work in the United States. Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment letter, applicants are required to complete a drug and/or alcohol test at the time of their pre-employment physical. All employees are required by law to sign a loyalty oath to the United States and the State of California Constitution at time of hire.

Retirement
CalPERS Retirement Plan - The City participates in the California Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS)
  • 2% @ 60 for Classic members
  • 2% @ 62 for Public Employees' Pension Reform Act (PEPRA) members
  • Final Compensation: Highest thirty-six (36) consecutive month period

The employee pays their respective PERS retirement contribution (7% for Classic members, 7.75% for PEPRA members).
Health Benefits
Cafeteria Benefit Package - the current City contribution towards the cafeteria plan for full-time employees is $2,721.01 per month. This amount reflects the current Kaiser Permanente Region III monthly premium for subscriber and 2+ dependents plus $250.00. The Kaiser Permanente Region III monthly premium for subscriber and 2+ dependents is the base rate for future automatic adjustments to the cafeteria allowance. Should the premium for the Kaiser Permanente Region III monthly premium for subscriber and 2+ dependents increase, the City will provide an automatic annual increase on January 1 of each year to the cafeteria plan allowance commensurate with such premium increase to such plan, up to a maximum of 5% per annum.
Medical
The City offers various HMO health plans to choose from through CalPERS. Coverage is effective the first day of the month following the date of hire.
Dental
The City offers a voluntary dental plan with Ameritas. Coverage is effective the first day of the month following the date of hire.
Vision
The City offers a voluntary vision plan with VSP. Coverage is effective the first day of the month following the date of hire.
Life & Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance
City Manager and Management - 2x annual salary to a maximum of $400,000
All Other Benefited Employees - 2x annual salary with a minimum of $100,000
City Council Members - $25,000
Insurance Programs
Additional supplemental insurance programs are available to employees through Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company (i.e. Life, Disability, Accident, and Cancer insurance coverage).
Deferred Compensation Plan
A 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan is available to employees through Voya. The City will provide a 200% matching contribution of the employee's contribution into a 401(a) plan up to a maximum of $3,000.00 per calendar year.
Retiree Health Reimbursement
The City awards employees based on years of continuous service, beginning at the completion of the fifth (5) consecutive year, with monthly contribution to a Health Reimbursement fund that they may use for eligible health care related expenses during retirement or upon separation.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Services include assessments, counseling, and referrals, for additional services to employees with personal and/or work related concerns. Up to six sessions per occurrence.
Long Term and Short Term Insurance
The City does not participate in the State of California's Disability Insurance. We offer a private sector program offered by Lincoln Financial paid by the City.
Accumulation Program for Part-Time and Limited Service Employees (APPLE)
A retirement savings program for part-time employees that do not qualify for CalPERS retirement benefits.
Time Off
Holidays
The City offers 11 paid holidays per year. Employees also receive one floating holiday each calendar year.
Vacation Leave
Full-time employees will earn 80 hours per year. Part-time employees will earn 40 hours per year.
Sick Leave
Full-time employees will earn 90 hours per year. Part-time employees will earn 45 hours per year.
Parental Leave
The City provides a wage replacement up to $3,500 per week, for up to 12 weeks for an employee's eligible parental related leave of absence.
Tuition Reimbursement
The City will provide regular full-time, and at-will employees with tuition reimbursement for courses which relate to their job assignment or the completion of a degree in a field related to City operations, subject to funding availability. An employee may be reimbursed for up to $2,500 a year, not to exceed a cumulative total of $10,000.
