Job description

Overview
Nakupuna Consulting is seeking a Future Operations Planner - Fires and Effects to support Marine Forces Pacific (MARFORPAC) operational planning activities within the Indo-Pacific theater. The selected candidate will provide operational planning expertise focused on fires and effects coordination, joint integration, contingency planning, and theater-level operational support.
The Future Operations Planner - Fires and Effects will support planning activities, assessments, exercises, and operational coordination efforts across joint and combined force stakeholders. This position requires experience with operational planning processes, joint force integration, and operational decision support in dynamic and high-tempo environments.
Responsibilities
The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
  • Support theater-level operational planning activities related to fires and effects coordination across the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility.
  • Participate in operational planning teams, working groups, boards, synchronization meetings, and integrated planning events.
  • Support development and coordination of operational plans, contingency plans, warning orders, execution orders, and related planning documentation.
  • Analyze operational requirements and provide recommendations related to fires, effects integration, readiness, and force employment planning.
  • Support coordination and integration activities with joint, service, and component headquarters.
  • Assist with planning and assessment efforts supporting crisis response, contingency operations, exercises, and steady-state operations.
  • Prepare written reports, briefing materials, decision-support products, meeting minutes, and operational assessments for senior leadership.
  • Apply joint planning concepts, command relationships, and operational planning methodologies to support mission requirements.
  • Support campaign planning, operational assessments, and all-domain planning initiatives.
  • Participate in exercises, wargames, rehearsals, and planning conferences in support of operational readiness objectives.
  • Coordinate planning efforts with internal and external stakeholders to ensure operational synchronization and mission alignment.
  • Support modernization planning initiatives and integration efforts involving emerging operational capabilities and technologies.
  • Monitor planning actions, taskings, and operational updates to support leadership situational awareness and decision making.
  • Provide quality assurance reviews of planning products and operational documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of mission requirements.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Military Studies, International Relations, National Security, Strategic Studies, Operations Management, Public Administration, Emergency Management, or related field.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting military operations planning, contingency planning, readiness planning, or operational analysis activities.
  • Experience supporting operational planning cycles, mission readiness activities, or force employment planning within a military or joint operational environment.
  • Working knowledge of military planning processes, joint planning concepts, and operational-level planning methodologies.
  • Experience coordinating across multiple organizations and stakeholders in support of operational planning activities.
  • Strong analytical, briefing, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple planning efforts in fast-paced and dynamic operational environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Strategic Studies, Defense Analysis, Security Studies, Business Administration, Public Policy, Operations Research, or related field.
  • Advanced operational planning education or joint planning coursework.
  • Completion of senior-level professional military education programs.
  • Professional certifications related to project management, operational planning, or program management.
  • Prior military experience in operations, fires, plans, or force employment specialties.
  • Experience supporting combatant commands, service component commands, Marine Expeditionary Force headquarters, or joint task force staffs.
  • Experience supporting Indo-Pacific operational planning or joint theater operations.
  • Familiarity with joint fires, targeting, or operational effects integration processes.

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.

The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $100,000.00 to $165,000.00 (annualized USD). The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
