Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for maintaining and executing sourcing strategies to optimize the procurement of medical supplies, equipment, and purchase services for supply chain operations at Eskenazi Health. This role involves analyzing market trends, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships to ensure cost-effective and high-quality procurement controls. The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will work closely with legal, clinical, operational and administrative teams to align sourcing activities to meet organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health Mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County.
  • Oversee the sourcing and contract administration practices for medical supplies, equipment and purchase services to support clinical, operational and administrative departments.
  • Implement strategic sourcing plans to meet federal requirements, governing laws of Indiana and legal standards.
  • Evaluate potential vendors, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships.
  • Conduct market research and benchmark assessments.
  • Report sourcing metrics to identify cost savings initiatives and opportunities of improvement.
  • Collaborate with clinical, operational and administrative teams to understand their sourcing needs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and FDA standards.
  • Establish cross functional sourcing forums to communicate status of RFx, public bids and active contract agreements.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects related to legal, sourcing, contracts administration and procurement.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years sourcing experience in supply chain or procurement accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Experience with RFx, public bids, grants and AIA construction procedures.
  • Understanding of strategic sourcing and procurement principles.
  • Proficiency in sourcing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Capable of utilizing standard supply chain equipment or resources specific to laptop, scanners, printers, technology and telecom systems.
  • Preferred experience with Supplier Diversity, Joint Commission, HRSA, AIA standards, SAP Ariba, SAP Fiori, Emergency Care Research Institute (ECRI), Vizient Group Purchasing Organization, Global Health Exchange (GHX) and Power BI.
