Title and Summary

Senior Analyst, Strategic InvestmentsThe Senior Analyst, Strategic Investments is an integral member of the team driving all phases sourcing, executing and overseeing strategic investments at Mastercard. The qualified candidate will be a member of a highly visible team and responsible for driving investment efforts in the Start Path fund, while also assisting with broader strategic investments, and portfolio management. The position reports to VP, Mergers and Acquisitions (Minority Investments).
The candidate will lead strategic minority investments Mastercard's Start Path program with the following primary responsibilities:
Oversee the end-to-end Start Path investment process: including but not limited to business case development, cross-functional diligence, and negotiating transaction terms with founders
Evaluate strategic fit of prospective investments against Mastercard's priorities, including asset enhancement, ecosystem reach, and engagement expansion
Prepare executive level materials for Investment Committee and senior leadership, including investment memos, strategic rationales, and risk/mitigant frameworks.
Manage the Start Path investment portfolio: (i) point of contact for founders, internal stakeholders, and executive sponsors, (ii) performance and milestone tracking
Provide support for on-going management, valuation and monitoring of broader strategic investment portfolio outside of Start Path, including regular reporting to senior executives and Board of Directors
All About You:
Must have intellectual curiosity with a desire to learn while bringing a new perspective to the table
Strong analytical skills including financial modeling, accounting and valuation experience
Solid understanding of financial concepts such as DCF, NPV, IRR, etc.
Familiarity with financial technology and payments industry preferred
Detail oriented with excellent communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Capable of multi-tasking in a fast paced environment
Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills
Demonstrated experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, corporate development, or strategic finance role (preferred)

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
