Your Role in Supporting Our Members:ย 

As a Strategic Communications Manager, you will be primarily responsible for developing and executing Vancityโ€™s communications strategy for internal audiences, ensuring employees are informed, engaged, and aligned with organizational priorities. You will provide strategic counsel to senior leaders, support organizational transformation initiatives, manage issues and crisis communications, and deliver clear, consistent messaging across internal channels. While the primary focus of this role is internal communications, you will also support external communications initiatives as needed. This role plays a critical part in strengthening employee engagement, helping leaders navigate change, aligning teams around key priorities, and advancing Vancityโ€™s strategic business objectives. We are seeking an experienced communications leader who excels at strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, executive advisory work, and managing complex communications initiatives.

ย This is aย Full-time, Permanentย role based at ourย Vancity head officeย and will report directly to theย Director, Enterprise Communications. The successful candidate will be expected to work on-site regularly to support collaboration, events, and business needs, with flexibility for hybrid work whereย appropriate.ย 

How You'll Make an Impact:ย 

  • Developing and leading the execution of an integrated communications strategy that supports business goals, transformation initiatives, and brand expressionย 
  • Advising senior leaders on communication approaches for sensitive, complex, and high-profile issuesย 
  • Overseeing internal and external communications programs to ensure consistency, clarity, and alignment with organizational valuesย 
  • Managing proactive media relations, public relations initiatives, and thought leadership opportunities for Vancity and its subsidiariesย 
  • Leading issues management and crisis communications activities to mitigate reputational riskย 
  • Supporting strategic stakeholder relations and enterprise brand messaging initiativesย 
  • Fostering employee engagement through transparent,ย timely, and effective communication programsย 
  • Building strategic partnerships across the organization to support businessย objectivesย and organizational prioritiesย 
  • Identifyingย project and employee impacts and developing communication plans that support successful change adoptionย 
  • Monitoring, measuring, and reporting on the effectiveness of communication strategies, campaigns, and initiativesย 

Whatย Youโ€™llย Bring to the Team:ย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related disciplineย 
  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public affairs, public relations, employee communications, or a related fieldย 
  • Experience developing and executing enterprise communications strategies across internal and external audiencesย 
  • Demonstrated successย providingย communications counsel and strategic advice to senior executives and leadership teamsย 
  • Strong experience managing media relations, issues management, crisis communications, and reputation management initiativesย 
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skillsย 
  • Experience leading complex communications programs in large, dynamic organizationsย 
  • Accreditation or certification through IABC, CPRS, or a related professional organization is considered an assetย

Whatย Youโ€™llย Earn:ย 

This role offers a salary range ofย $108,500 to $140,500 per annum. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills,ย previousย experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.ย
