The Director, Strategic Initiatives is a senior leader who helps shape and lead Walmart for Good’s workforce and economic mobility work. The role serves as both a business advisor and philanthropic leader: working with Walmart leaders to align business priorities with community needs, and designing initiatives that expand opportunity for workers. The Director will focus on practical solutions connected to real people, employers, and communities. They will build partnerships across private, public, and nonprofit sectors to help working adults gain skills and move into better jobs, while turning complex workforce challenges into clear, actionable solutions.

The Creating Opportunity team at Walmart for Good is dedicated to workforce development by helping individuals acquire skills, secure meaningful employment, and advance their careers. The team supports economic mobility, stronger supply chains, and thriving communities through strategic initiatives. With over $2 billion invested in FY26 by Walmart and the Walmart Foundation, the team drives impactful change. Members collaborate on business development, strategy execution, and public policy efforts to create lasting opportunities aligned with evolving economic needs. This team values innovation, leadership, and strategic partnerships to foster sustainable growth and opportunity.
What you'll do:
Develop and lead workforce and economic mobility strategies that help people build skills and access better jobs. Advise Walmart teams on opportunities that support both business growth and worker advancement. Lead cross-functional projects and partnerships across nonprofit, public, and private sectors, ensuring efforts are coordinated and grounded in local needs. Use insights on AI, automation, labor trends, and skills data to guide philanthropic investments. Support secure, portable, and usable skills data across employers, training providers, and workforce systems. Strengthen links among training, credentials, skills, and jobs. Manage results, represent Walmart for Good externally, share learning, and mentor team members/ partners.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
