Job Description

The Build Up Manager will use their knowledge of youth education, workforce development, and employee engagement to enhance and scale DPR's youth education initiatives. The role will work cross-functionally with Recruiting, College Internship, Workforce Development, Supplier Diversity and other teams to create strategy for initiatives that inspire under-resourced youth in grades 3-12 to consider careers in the construction industry. The Build Up Manager will lead the Build Up High School Internship program, develop best-in-class curriculum, analyze data and implement improvements that will allow the program to scale successfully. This role will help develop age-appropriate education activities and train volunteers to implement the modules. The role will support volunteer teams to implement education initiatives during the industry-wide Construction Inclusion Week. The role will collaborate with partners across the enterprise, including DPR's Family of Companies and internal social responsibility groups to collectively drive progress on DPR's Community Initiatives goals.

Responsibilties:

  • Be a visible and vocal representative and advocate for DPR's CI strategies and initiatives in peer groups, DPR meetings. Consistently deliver an aligned message of DPR's CI strategy and goals.
  • Manage the implementation and success of the Build Up High School Internship program.
  • Develop relationships with companies and institutions that provide high school internships to increase knowledge of best practices and look for partnership opportunities.
  • Create a year-round recruiting strategy for outreach to Internship candidates, in collaboration with Supplier Diversity team, Recruiting, Nonprofit Partners, CIW and others.
  • Create and manage an alumni network for High School Internship graduates.
  • Collaborate with Recruiting, College Internship, Workforce Development and others to create education modules to inspire under-resourced youth to consider careers in construction.
  • Collaborate with professional educators and nonprofit partners to identify education initiatives that are effective and essential for our partners.
  • Research opportunities to scale construction education, including through classroom curriculum, video games, construction technology, etc.
  • Develop short and long-term metrics to measure the effectiveness of educational programs. Analyze and adapt as needed.
  • Develop relationships with peers from the construction industry and others.
  • Continuously build knowledge of philanthropic and education best practices through conferences, training and certifications.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, or 5+ years of related work experience.
  • Certifications in education or social responsibility from accredited institutions a plus.

Work Experience

  • 5+ years of related experience in a similar role with demonstrated success in relevant areas including strategic philanthropy, pro-bono volunteering and change management.
  • Experience in managerial capacity preferred.
  • Construction industry experience is a plus.
  • Experience cultivating a culture of strategic philanthropy through training, education, consultation, coaching and collaboration.
  • Effective participation in team environment. Ability to work with team members at all levels of the organization, partner with and influence team members to enhance inclusive business and operational best practices.
  • Self-starter with excellent time management and project management skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills to inspire and motivate diverse audiences, including public speaking, partner interviews, and web-based/virtual skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to understand, communicate with and interact effectively with people
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, navigate complexities, find common ground, and build consensus.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex issues. Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills that enhance one's ability to inspire and motivate diverse audiences
  • Research and analytical skills, including experience in collecting, analyzing, and sharing data.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and other analytical tools/software such as Monday.com, PowerBi, Benevity, etc
  • Ability to travel domestically 20-25%
  • Research opportunities to scale construction education, including through classroom curriculum, video games, construction technology, etc.
  • Develop short and long-term metrics to measure the effectiveness of educational programs. Analyze and adapt as needed.

Anticipated Salary Range: $110,000-$165,000
