Humana is seeking an intern for our Finance & Accounting Rotational Internship Program, with the first rotation beginning in either late September or early October 2026. This program is designed for students eager to apply their academic experience in a dynamic, real-world business environment and gain exposure to multiple areas within Finance and Accounting.

As a Finance & Accounting intern, you will rotate through various departmentsapproximately everysix monthswithin the organization, taking on a variety of assignments such as creating financial transactions, analyzing financial data, and communicating financial information to associates and leadership.

This opportunity requires candidates to be within a daily commutable distance of Louisville, KY, year-round due to an in-office work requirement.

Program Highlights:

  • Immerse yourself in a dynamic, year-round part-time internship based in Louisville, KY

  • Gain broad professional experience through department rotations every six months-beginning each January and June

  • Build yourexpertiseby working alongside leaders in key financial divisions, including (but not limited to) Accounts Payable, Corporate Accounting, Internal Audit, Financial Operations, Financial Planning & Analysis, Tax, and Treasury

Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead comprehensive account reconciliations to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data across multiple business units

  • Conduct in-depth variance analyses,providingcritical insights that drive strategic decision-making and financial optimization

  • Develop andmaintaincomplex tax schedules, supporting robust compliance and proactive tax planning initiatives

  • Prepare and post precise monthly journal entries, underpinningaccurateandtimelyfinancial close processes

  • Manage end-to-end accounts payable operations, streamlining workflows and strengthening supplier relationships

  • Participate in audit walkthroughs and perform rigorous control testing to uphold internal controls and support successful audit outcomes

  • Design and analyze advanced spreadsheets, transforming data into actionable intelligence for cross-functional teams

Required Qualifications

  • Must have an expected graduation date ofDecember2027or later to ensure eligibility to complete at least one year in the internship program.

  • Currentlypursuing an undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting, or a related graduate-level business degree/certificate (such as MBAorMAcc)

  • Must be enrolled in 9+ credit hours per semester for undergraduate or 6+ credit hours for graduate

  • Maintain a cumulative and Finance/Accounting GPA of 3.0 or better throughout the program

  • Must have completed an intermediate Finance and/orAccountingcourse

  • Must be available to start the programin September or October2026, andparticipateyear-round, rotating through departments for at least one year.

  • Ability to work 20-25 hours per week year-round in Louisville, KY

  • Mustresidewithin a daily commutable distance to the Louisville office for the duration of the program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previousinternship or work experience inFinance,Accounting, or a related business field

  • Completion of advanced coursework inFinance,Accounting, orBusinessAnalytics

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities through extracurricular activities, student organizations, or part-time work

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel

  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to balance school and work assignments

  • Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
