Director of Construction at Anderson Collins Luxury Builders

The Director of Construction is responsible for leading and directing all aspects of vertical and site development construction. The Director of Construction will work with leadership to define construction strategy, drive execution, and deliver results to meet business goals and objectives. The Director of Construction will work to build and grow the overall construction operation, team, and culture. The position will work closely with all departments in the company including construction operations, development, and finance to help deliver best class service with clients and vendors.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

The Director of Construction is responsible for leading the construction team to achieve business objectives while maintaining company values and vision as it relates entire construction process, meeting customer commitments and completing projects on schedule. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Build, lead, and develop field construction scope, materials, performance, and logistics of project management and subcontractors with detailed, timely and motivational communication and execution.
  • Demonstrate leadership in all interactions, initiatives, and relationships that are consistent with Anderson Construction Luxury Builders business strategy and values.
  • Key member of market leadership team responsible for growing the operation, delivering business results, and building the Anderson Collins Luxury Builders culture.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal teams, trade partners, and suppliers to promote a positive overall culture.
  • Deliver excellence in customer satisfaction from pre-construction through closing.
  • Ensure team is fully executing and complying with their scope of work.
  • Manage the planning, design review, budget, and execution of site development.
  • Responsible for all construction activities, including the development and refinement of project schedules and overall production flow across all projects.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate construction techniques and production processes.
  • Oversee all warranty activities to ensure quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
  • Complete construction projects on time, within budget, and within quality standards, to meet business performance expectations.
  • Possess a thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of the construction contract, specifications, civil plans, and scopes of work.
  • Assist in the value engineering of all construction products and procedures.
  • Monitor variance spend strategies with department managers to identify and correct recurring or preventable problems.
  • Ensure all job site activities comply with the company's established safety policies and procedures as well s with OSHA/EPA requirements.
  • Actively participates in leadership and strategy meetings.
Safety and Health Responsibilities
  • Ensures compliance with safety and environmental procedures and establish profitability/productivity requirements.
  • Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance concerns and preventative actions.
  • Plans and implements training for employees in work site safety practices.
  • Maintains safety files and records.
  • Performs safety surveys an inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel.
  • Setup and conducts training.
  • Develops, evaluates and upgrades safety programs.

Preferred Education Experience
  • Must be able to understand and interpret architectural and structural plans.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to calculate figures such as percentages and square footage. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
  • Strong communication skills; thorough and attentive to details; able to prioritize and multitask; proactive and deadline-oriented.
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors and employees at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • 10+ years of construction trade experience.
  • 5+ years as a Construction Superintendent or in construction management.
  • Minimum of 2+ years residential estimating experience.
  • 30 hour OSHA certification.
  • 5+ years of construction site safety management.
  • Training in PPE, Scaffolding, and Fall Protection.
  • Knowledge of acceptable codes and regulations.
  • Previous Management Experience.
  • Spanish Speaking.
