**Please note:      All positions are Summer/Temporary, Not union, with No benefits.  Seasonal Vegetation Grounds Worker -Electric DepartmentJOB SUMMARY:  The Vegetation Ground Worker provides essential support for tree trimming and line-clearance crews. This role focuses exclusively on ground-level operations and will remain outside the Minimum Approach Distance (MAD) of energized power lines. Maintains job site safety from initial setup through final debris cleanup.JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:•Work requires the use of chipper, rake, leaf blower, and any additional tools necessary to complete ground-level operations.•Assists in the setup and maintenance of a secure work zone to protect the crew and the public.•Cleans up work site upon completion of trimming, pruning, and assist in removal operations.•Inspects, sharpens, and cares for tools, ropes, and safety equipment.•Operates chipper and hauls waste material to designated sites.•Assists other Electric Department crews with regular and storm work when needed.•Performs other work as required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:•Ability to interact with residents and members of the public in a courteous and professional manner.•Ability to perform required job duties in a safe and responsible manner.•Good communication skills; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing•Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.•High degree of visual and manual dexterity for sustained periods of time.•Work requires regular in-person attendance.•Ability to work with minimal supervision and carry out assigned job tasks.•Ability to maintain positive working relationships with the public and other employees.•Ability to work effectively under time constraints and pressure.•Ability to use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed.•This is a ground-based position. The employee must strictly adhere to all safety protocols and is prohibited from entering the Minimum Approach Distance (MAD) of energized power lines at any time. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:•High school diploma or GED, •Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver's license.•Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment commonly used in tree trimming.SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Incumbents in this classification may be exposed to adverse conditions such as inclement weather, dust, heat, and wind. Work in this classification may involve exposure to: chemicals, moving machinery, vibrations; vehicles and equipment with moving parts; fumes; gases; obnoxious smells; loud noise and materials. The use of appropriate safety clothing and protective footwear (steel-toe or equivalent) and meet federal (ANSI Z41.1) standards at all times. Work involves walking, climbing, sitting, kneeling, twisting, lifting up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 80 pounds occasionally, turning, pushing, pulling, stooping and squatting on a repetitive basis.
