Groundman Summary:
The Groundman will play a crucial role in supporting the tree service crew during tree removal, pruning, and maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate will be Flagging certified, have experience in tree care, and preferably hold a CDL. Responsibilities include managing equipment, securing ropes, handling debris, and ensuring a safe and efficient worksite. We are hiring for positions across the state of Georgia. Candidates must be flexible and willing to travel throughout the state based on project or job site locations.
Duties/ Responsibilities
  • Support climbers and bucket operators with ropes, rigging, and securing tree limbs.
  • Handle and dispose of tree debris (branches, logs, etc.) following company procedures.
  • Ensure safety by flagging traffic, setting up cones, and maintaining safe work zones.
  • Operate and maintain equipment (chippers, chainsaws, etc.) as needed.
  • Perform job site cleanup, ensuring the area is safe and free of hazards.
  • Communicate effectively with the crew to ensure safe and efficient task completion.
  • Follow safety protocols, including PPE usage, and adhere to OSHA regulations.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting equipment to and from job sites.

Qualifications
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years working on a tree crew or performing ground operations.
  • Flagging certification required.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, at heights, and in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.
  • Previous experience in tree care, landscaping, or a related field is a plus.
  • Availability to work 10-hour days, 40+ hours per week, and travel for extended periods (weather-driven).
