Classification: Full-Time, 12-month staff position

6:30a to 3:00p

Grounds Manager

What You'll Do

  • Mow all turf on campus and perform routine lawn care, including aerating and fertilizing
  • Remove leaves and perform tree maintenance and removal
  • Trim and maintain all shrubs; prune shrubs and trees as needed
  • Maintain irrigation systems across campus
  • Clean and mulch all landscape beds
  • Remove trash from campus grounds
  • Apply pesticides for weed, insect, and landscape disease control
  • Perform daily and routine maintenance on landscape/grounds equipment
  • Maintain landscape and grounds according to established zone assignments
  • Operate heavy equipment, including front-end loaders, backhoes, large trucks, tractors, Bobcats, reel mowers, and limb chippers
  • Operate mowers, string trimmers, edgers, blowers, chainsaws, and other motorized and non-motorized equipment
  • Assist with landscape installations and renovations, including floral displays; read and implement landscape design documents
  • Water annual flowers and spray weeds as part of routine care
  • Assist with setup and move support for various on-campus events
  • Perform daily campus safety walks
  • Respond to storm damage and other landscaping-related emergencies as needed
  • Perform snow and ice removal from roadways, sidewalks, and parking lots
  • Other related duties as assigned

What You'll Need

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver's license
  • Two years of experience in grounds maintenance
  • Proficiency in landscape, turf, and irrigation maintenance preferred

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This role is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, including hot, cold, wet, and humid environments, with a moderate to loud noise level. Employees must be able to:

  • Regularly stand, walk, reach with hands, bend, stoop, talk, and hear
  • Occasionally climb or balance
  • Lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Meet close and distance vision requirements
