Summary

The Shipping Lead is a hands-on operations leader within the SBS program who is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate execution of all shipping, receiving, warehouse, rail, WIP, and finished goods activities. The role supports daily production flow by leading shipping personnel, unloading inbound rail cars, loading outbound tractor trailers, managing the maintenance storeroom, maintaining inventory accuracy, and driving continuous improvement across logistics and warehouse operations using HMOS principles. This position requires overtime as needed, shifts can include 8-12 hour working days from Monday-Fridays as business deems nessesary. 

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead daily shipping, warehouse, receiving, and finished goods operations.
  • Unload inbound rail cars safely while verifying product, reporting damage, and maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Load outbound tractor trailer trucks to customer specifications while ensuring product quality, load security, weight distribution, and shipping accuracy.
  • Coordinate staging, FIFO inventory, warehouse moves, and shipping priorities to support production.
  • Manage Bills of Lading, shipping documentation, SAP transactions, and inventory records.
  • Maintain the maintenance storeroom including organization, inventory accuracy, replenishment, cycle counts, and 5S standards.
  • Lead daily HMOS activities including L1 meetings, visual management, OSW boards, 5S audits, and standard work compliance.
  • Train, coach, and develop shipping personnel while supporting skill progression and cross training.
  • Ensure forklifts, scanners, RAD tools, and shipping equipment are inspected, clean, and operated properly.
  • Partner with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, Customer Service, and Transportation to meet customer requirements.
  • Lead problem solving activities using Lean, HMOS, root cause analysis, and standardization.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce freight damage, improve warehouse utilization, increase shipping accuracy, and lower operating costs.
  • Stay current on emerging warehousing, logistics, automation, inventory management, transportation, and material handling technologies, evaluating opportunities that improve safety, productivity, service, and cost.
  • Support Zero Harm through safe work practices, hazard identification, housekeeping, environmental compliance, and accountability.
  • Perform other duties and projects assigned by plant leadership.

What You’ll Bring:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of shipping, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing experience with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
  • Experience with SAP or comparable ERP systems preferred.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control, warehouse management, rail and truck logistics.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment using required PPE.
