GENERAL OVERVIEW

Crew Members and Shift Leaders help create an exceptional experience for every customer who enters the store. Team members provide friendly customer service, prepare high-quality food, maintain a clean and welcoming restaurant, and work closely with customers and coworkers throughout each shift.

Shift Leaders also help guide the team during assigned shifts and support the General Manager with the execution of daily store operations.

Every employee is expected to uphold Jersey Mike’s operational, food-quality, safety, sanitation, and customer-service standards.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greet customers and provide friendly, attentive service
• Prepare and serve food according to Jersey Mike’s specifications and quality standards
• Take customer orders and accurately operate the point-of-sale system
• Set up the store and complete food-preparation tasks
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary restaurant
• Complete routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing work areas
• Follow food-safety and sanitation requirements
• Restock food, supplies, and service areas as needed
• Work cooperatively and communicate effectively with team members
• Follow the General Manager’s direction in carrying out assigned responsibilities
• Use the slicer when assigned and legally permitted; employees must be at least 18 years old
• Use the tomato slicer when assigned and legally permitted; employees must be at least 17 years old
• Complete other duties associated with the operation of the restaurant

SHIFT LEADER RESPONSIBILITIES

Depending on the position and assigned shift, Shift Leaders may also:

• Help lead and support Crew Members during assigned shifts
• Assist with opening and closing procedures
• Help maintain food-quality, customer-service, cleanliness, and safety standards
• Provide direction and coaching to team members
• Support cash-handling and shift-management procedures
• Communicate operational concerns to the General Manager
• Help ensure assigned tasks are completed accurately and timely

• Strong customer-service and communication skills
• Ability to interact professionally and consistently with customers and coworkers
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Dependability, a positive attitude, and willingness to learn
• Ability to follow food-safety, sanitation, and workplace-safety procedures
• Availability to work scheduled shifts, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous food-service or restaurant experience is preferred but not required
• Previous cash-handling experience is preferred but not required
• Prior leadership experience is preferred for Shift Leader candidates

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and use of the hands and fingers. Employees must be able to safely operate store food-preparation equipment and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

Employees must also be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Periodic local travel may be required during the normal course of job duties.
